Negotiation update April 2019 – Ryanair

News articles, Friday, April 05th, 2019

The Unite Inflight Ryanair Joint National Committee (UIRJNC), Unite Civil Air Transport National Officer Oliver Richardson and Unite Project Worker Mike Parker met with the representatives of Ryanair on 2nd April in Ryanair’s Airside Head Office to continue negotiations on behalf of directly employed cabin crew.

The main agenda of this meeting was to carry on negotiating a pay deal and to address other issues that were previously addressed by FRUnite and remained unanswered by Ryanair.

With regards to pay talks we have made some progress. It is our aim to ensure that all directly employed cabin crew have a basic pay that is compliant with National Minimum Wage (NMW) requirements. At this moment it seems like we have managed to secure that. It all depends on the actual adjusted wage figures Ryanair promised to provide us with before Easter week.

It is also a positive sign that as of the end of this meeting we managed to achieve improvements on 2 major issues (sickness policy / discretionary sickness benefit scheme and moving a certain number of agency staff to direct contracts).

We are keen on making certain adjustments on the wages of Instructors and Examiners as their allowance rates haven’t changed for over 13 years. This is a matter of further negotiations.

Ryanair have agreed to set up a Health & Safety meeting to properly address issues that have arisen in the past few months (including the use and stowage of full size trolleys, pregnancy policy, FTL compliance when rest periods are interrupted). We are planning to set this meeting up as soon as possible as it is our priority to ensure that all our members have a safe workplace.

We expect Ryanair’s comprehensive pay deal offer by 17th April when we will be able to provide you with further updates.
