FRUnite is launching a new campaign called Myths & Legends. There are many pieces of misinformation spread among cabin crew, trying to discourage them from signing up. It is every workers’ right to join a trade union!

Employers don’t like trade unions because they don’t want their employees to get together and try to improve their employment terms and conditions. It is our time to get together and step up as one!

⛔ Have you ever been told that you weren’t allowed to join FRUnite?
🤫 Have you ever been told that if you participated in an industrial action organised by FRUnite you would be sacked and you would have no income at all during a strike?
👥 Have you ever been told that you couldn’t have a union rep at your disciplinary meeting?
✈ Have you ever been told that you had to do something for the company on your day off or during your rest period without having your roster amended?

These are all fake news and myths spread by greedy elves (and others of course)! It is our responsibility to tell everyone about these. It is our responsibility to encourage our colleagues to sign up and participate. We can only succeed if we act together undivided!

No employer wants to pay more to their staff than national minimum wage requirements – unless there is a demand for it. FRUnite can only progress and have significant achievements if we put pressure on our employers. And we can only do that if we have a strong membership.

Many of you think “why is there no big progress? Why am I paying every month and see no results? Why aren’t we planning a strike?”.

The answer is short and frank: we can only expect great results if we do something for it. We have to go out, speak with our colleagues and tell them to sign up. BA Mixed Fleet Unite walked out on a massively successful strike and made changes to their employment terms. How did they manage that? They have 4,600 members!

Can we also do that? Yes, we can but we have to work for it! Unite is here to support us, they provide infrastructure but it is down to us to tell our colleagues about FRUnite and it is down to us to recruit new members. How can we do that?
